Absence and Dismissals Policies
Medical and Dental Appointments
Parents/guardians are urged to schedule all medical appointment for times that do not conflict with the learning day. If a medical or dental appointment calls for an early dismissal from the student must bring in a note from his or her parent/guardian to the main office at the beginning of the school day. The note should include the time of dismissal and the name of the person who will be picking the student up. If an appoinment calls for a late arrival to school, the student must bring in an excuse note from the medical provider.
Absence due to Illness
Parents/guardians should call the main office or absence line of the school to report a student absence due to illness. Upon return to school, the student should bring in a note documenting the reason for the absence. The student should give the note to the homeroom teacher or the main office. This note is required in addition to calling the day of the absence. If a student is absent for four consecutive days, a note from their physician is required upon their return to school. Please consult the Salem Public School's absence policy for more information.
Please refer to the Sick Day Guidelines for advice about when to keep your child home from school.
