Salem Public Schools is proud to offer the ParentChild+ program, a FREE early learning and school readiness program for families with children 16 months to 4 years old who live in Salem.
At ParentChild+, we believe you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Our goal is to work alongside you, providing encouragement, support, and simple learning strategies that help you nurture your child’s growth and prepare them for success in school and beyond.
What Your Family Will Receive:
A New Educational Book or Toy Every Week
Each week, your family receives a carefully selected book or educational toy to keep. These gifts encourage learning through play while building early literacy and school readiness skills.
Personalized Home Visits
An Early Learning Specialist (ELS) visits your family twice each week for 30 minutes or once a week for an hour over 23 weeks each year for two years. Visits are available in person or virtually, making it easy to fit your family’s schedule.
Fun, Play-Based Learning Activities
Discover simple, age-appropriate activities that turn everyday moments into meaningful learning experiences.
Track Your Child’s Growth
Families complete the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), a trusted developmental screening that helps parents better understand their child’s communication, motor, social-emotional, and problem-solving skills. Together, we’ll celebrate your child’s progress and identify opportunities to support healthy development by making goals we’d like to work through together.
Support for Parents
Parenting comes with joys, questions, and challenges. Your Early Learning Specialist is there to listen, celebrate your family’s strengths, answer questions, and provide encouragement every step of the way.
