Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll visits Witchcraft Heights Elementary School

Lt. Governor Driscoll honors 2022 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Marta Garcia; interviewed by student journalists from the Witchcraft Word to kick off Teacher Appreciation Week

Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll spent the morning at Witchcraft Heights Elementary School to present a citation to 2022 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Marta Garcia, an ESL educator, and interview with student journalists from The Witchcraft Word for an upcoming Summer edition article on Monday.

Lt. Governor Driscoll and State Representative Manny Cruz each presented Ms. Garcia commendations and emphasized the importance of her role as an ESL educator.

Also on hand for the presentation were Mayor Dominick Pangallo, Bob McCarthy representing Senator Joan Lovely‘s office, Superintendent Dr. Stephen Zrike, WHES Principal Susan Carmona, and Assistant Principal Nicole Brunelle.

Afterward, Lt. Governor Driscoll, who served as Mayor of Salem for 17 years, sat for an interview with WHES fifth graders Isabella Lam and Kerris Bela, both student journalists for The Witchcraft Word, and discussed her schooling, career and key issues regarding Salem and the Commonwealth.

The interview will be published in the Summer edition of The Witchcraft Word, available in the first week of June.
