The Salem Public Schools Strategic Plan in motion:
Approximately 80 students from the Collins Middle School, Saltonstall School and Salem High School took part in the Salem Vacation Acceleration Academy during February break.
On Tuesday, Amy Driscoll, Manager of the King Arthur Bake for Good program, donated all the baking ingredients and materials to enable students to bake rolls.
On Wednesday, students prepared the dough to rise overnight, and will complete the baking process on Thursday. At the end of the day, students will identify someone with whom they would share half the rolls — a friend, relative or a teacher.
Throughout this process, students are realizing the importance of fractions, ratios and proportions, and math fluency. Perhaps more important, students are practicing collaboration and sharing.
