The School Committee has agreed to send a resolution to the state Senate to support more funding for a statewide emergency food assistance program thanks to advocacy from some Salem eighth-graders.
At the May 11 committee meeting, Collins Middle School teacher Kate Jahl’s social studies class presented its civic action project appealing for an increase in funding for the Massachusetts Emergency Food Assistance Program (MEFAP).
