SALEM — The city is moving forward with an emissions-reduction project at Horace Mann Elementary School intended to reduce operational costs and transition toward cleaner energy.
Salem has so far received $12.2 million in grant funding to upgrade the school’s energy systems, which would fully decarbonize and electrify the school, with only the building’s kitchen equipment to continue using natural gas. The project includes repair of the building’s roof and the installation of solar panels for additional power.
