The Salem News 2024 Football Player of the Year: Rocco Ryan

It takes a special kind of player and a special kind of season to make history for a program with record books going all the way back to 1890. But that’s exactly what Rocco Ryan did for Salem High in 2024.
No player to ever wear the Witches’ helmet scored more career touchdowns than Ryan, who graduates with a school record 44 scores. The Northeastern Conference’s Most Valuable Player scored 17 of those this season while leading Salem in touchdowns and surpassing 100 points for a second straight season.
