Salem preschool options expand

SALEM — Public preschool options for Salem’s youngest residents are about to receive an infusion of state funding.

Two announcements from the governor’s desk combined last week to award $3.4 million to various school districts for growing pre-K programming through “Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiatives,” or CPPI.

In the region, Salem Public Schools will receive $250,000 to expand its pre-K programs with two new offerings at Horace Mann Laboratory and Salem High schools, while Lawrence Public Schools has picked up $690,000 for partnerships with two pre-K providers.
