Consider this: the last time the Salem Witches had a new head football coach, Tom Brady still had nine seasons to play — and four more Super Bowl rings to gather — before ending his NFL career.

Brett Segala, the 29-year-old now in charge of the program, is aware that stability in the coaching ranks has long been a Salem High staple. He’s also cognizant that pushing his new players — many of them young and inexperienced — will help bring the best out of them.
