Students enrolled in Salem Public Schools’ four-week English Language Summer Academy (ELSA) gave their final presentation — ‘Water’ — Friday, Aug. 2 at the Horace Mann Laboratory School.
The ELSA program, which encompasses multilingual learners entering grades 1 through 5 this fall, helps young scholars learn English through project-based curriculum using the WIDA model domains of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Megan Martins, an educator at Bates Elementary School, served as the ELSA coordinator along with educators Joao Barros (SPS Parent Information Center), Katie O’Brien (Carlton Innovation School), Geidy Peguero and Erica Cabral (Horace Mann Laboratory School).
