Multistate Association for Bilingual Education Conference

Elevating learning and empowering educators at the Bentley Academy Innovation School:

Bentley Academy, a dual language pre-K to Grade 5 elementary school, hosted the Multistate Association for Bilingual Education (MABE)-Northeast Conference Wednesday, Nov. 5, at which educators from Everett, Somerville and Manchester, N.H., public schools toured classrooms, spoke to students about their experiences, and exchanged ideas to bring back to their districts.

Grade 5 students Yeliza Almonte and Erick Yos García served as tour guides and fielded questions from the guests, who observed pre-K, grades 1-2 Spanish, grades 2 and 3 English, grade 2 math and science, and grade 5 ELA classrooms.

Guests were equipped with welcome packages that included testimonials Salem Public Schools dual language alumni, frequently asked questions and personalized thank you notes from BAIS students.

“It’s really an exchange of ideas among dual language schools,” said BAIS Principal Elizabeth Rogers. “We’re really here to learn from each other.”
