SHS to perform “This Girls Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing”

SALEM (Feb. 28, 2025) – O*N*S*T*A*G*E, the Salem High School Drama Club, will perform at the 2025 Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) High School Drama Festival preliminary round Saturday at Saugus High School.

Admission is $10, which covers the entire day.

SHS is one of eight schools performing at Saugus H.S., and will take the stage at 11:15 with a performance of its original one-act play “This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing.”

The Festival lineup is as follows:

  • 9:00 AM | Boston Latin School | Wojtek: The Happy Warrior
  • 10:00 AM | North Reading High School | Cyrano de Bergerac
  • 11:15 AM | Salem High School | This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing
  • 12:15 PM | Swampscott High School | How to Get Away With A Murder Mystery
  • 2:00 PM | Saugus High School | Woyzeck (Re-Imagined)
  • 3:00 PM | Manchester-Essex Regional High School | Advice For Astronauts
  • 4:15 PM | Lynn English High School | Two by Durang: DMV Tyrant and Funeral Parlor
  • 5:15 PM | The Clark School | 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

Saturday’s lineup is one of 13 preliminary rounds taking place statewide. Of the 112 one-act plays that enter the festival, fourteen will be selected to advance to the state finals, of which three will be named winners.

Two schools chosen from the state finalists will represent Massachusetts in the New England Drama Festival May 1-3 at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, N.H.
