VIEW GALLERY: Apr. 8 Solar Eclipse
Using nature to elevate learning and empower our educators:
Salem Public Schools students reveled in Monday’s solar eclipse, particularly during its peak in which the moon covered 93 percent of the sun and normal broad daylight went dim.
Students in grades K-8 were provided viewing glasses courtesy of the Read Family Trust while pre-K-8 educators, during school hours, informed students about the eclipse and how to observe safely.
The last time a total solar eclipse was visible in the Boston area was in 1959. The next time solar eclipse is scheduled to happen in 2079.
Photos of the hazy sunlight and eclipse at near peak came courtesy of Collins Middle School eighth grader Marianyelis Alvarez and Andrianye Hernandez-Andujar.
