VIEW GALLERY: Empowering Educators with Utilizing Data to Inform Flexible Groupings

Last Wednesday, following the early release, Salem High School educators engaged in differentiated learning and application around school instructional priority No. 3, Utilizing Data to Inform Flexible Groupings. Educator data was analyzed and applied to group participants based on their experience and mastery applying DII strategies. Within each group, educators engaged in thinking routines, application of practices, and peer feedback rounds.
Throughout the professional development session, teacher leaders leaned into their expertise to share best practices with colleagues across all departments. Educators Emilee Greco and Amy Selvaggio facilitated past and present participants in the SHELL — The Flexibly Grouped Classroom PLC to strengthen their implementation of grouping strategies. Additional educators facilitated teacher-led stations to support the implementation of flexible grouping in classrooms.
Said one educator, “I really liked the modeling of flexible grouping through the format of this PD. Getting to move through and choose our own adventure based on what we needed/were interested in was such an engaging way to accomplish this.”
