Salem High School CTE Hosts ‘Explore, Connect, Pursue’ 2024 Career Fair Apr. 25
Career Fair expected to draw 40-50 Greater Boston companies
SALEM (Apr. 5, 2024) – The Salem High School Career Technical Education (CTE) Department will host the Explore, Connect, Pursue 2024 Career Fair Thursday, Apr. 25, from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Career Fair is expected to feature between 40-50 partner companies and representatives from Salem, the North Shore and Greater Boston seeking conversation with students regarding careers, internships and other possibilities for Salem Prep, New Liberty Innovation School and SHS students.
“This presents an excellent chance for our high school students to engage in meaningful discussions and establish valuable connections with local business professionals, whether for potential careers, internships, or summer work experiences,” said Mario Sousa, CTE Director and Co-op Coordinator. “We encourage each and every one of them to seize this opportunity and make the most of it.”
To facilitate discussion, a scavenger hunt with prizes involving partner companies is scheduled.
A live list of partner companies committed to attending is available on the CTE website page, ranging from veterinary services, the U.S. Army, architecture and several City of Salem municipalities.
“We invite local businesses to participate in this invaluable opportunity to engage with our high school students,” Mr. Sousa said. “Their involvement will not only benefit our students by providing them with insights into potential career paths, internships, and summer work experiences, but it will also contribute to the development of our future workforce. We hope they’ll join us in preparing our students for success beyond high school.”
The Career Fair supports the District’s 2023-26 Strategic Plan, particularly the core value of elevating education and providing students opportunities outside the classroom. SHS and Salem Public Schools are committed to providing students and graduates educational opportunities leading to advantages for their post-graduation years, whether they involve attending college or joining the workforce.
